Why?

One question that many students ask is: Why should I join the student union? The answer is that it is profitable in many ways!

Better education and benefits to the members

When it comes to your education the student union is always ready to help you, should you feel that something isn’t up to standards in your program. We have representatives in a number of key decision-making bodies in the university, including the board of the technical faculty and the university board. We use this influence to constantly improve the quality of the education given in Linköping and Norrköping.

The number of members the student union have is crucial for the survival of the student union. If we would not have members negative consequences would follow, particularly for all students at LiTH.

Where does the Union Fee go?

If you are studiyng at the Institute of Technology (LiTH) you have the opportunity to become a member of LinTek. This year's Union Fee is 200 SEK. The money goes to the sections, Kårservice, and LinTek. To pay the Union Fee, go to Kårservice's web page or pay directly at Kårsevice's information desk in Kårallen.

Money for the Sections

The Sections get money from the Union as a reward for their guarding of the education. Today, they get a sum of 5000 Swedish Kronas per six month period plus a variable sum of 30 Swedish Kronas maximum per member of the Section. In addition, the Sections get money for the reception of the new students, 200 Swedish Kronas per new student, in order for the reception to be the best possible.

The money within LinTek

Not all the money that is paid is used for your Section or Kårservice. The money pays the secretariats own activities for your well-being: the full time honoraries, the Emloyment Market Days LARM, the Union Paper LiTHanian, the Students Representatives everywhere within the university and some renting activities for you as a member. Hence, the money is not spent on the SOF or the München Hoben.
